Associate Instructor of Voice

Geoffrey Gear is a Columbus, Ohio–based tenor, educator, and performing arts professional. He received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Otterbein University, and recently completed his Master of Music in Vocal Performance at The Ohio State University. He brings over seven years of experience teaching classical, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial music styles.

Geoffrey has appeared with Opera Columbus, Opera Project Columbus, the Curtain Players, and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. In 2025, he was selected to participate in the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, Austria, where he performed and studied in an intensive European training environment. He has also appeared in concert settings throughout Ohio and continues to collaborate with regional ensembles and churches as a featured soloist.

In addition to his performance career, Geoffrey is a passionate and holistic teacher. His pedagogical approach integrates technical clarity, stylistic versatility, and performance psychology, equipping singers to move fluidly between classical repertoire, musical theatre, and contemporary styles. He is also certified in the Neuro Vocal Method for Popular Voice Styles, which uses neurological principles to inform the development of proper muscle memory for efficient technique. He has worked with students of all ages, from young beginners to pre-professional collegiate singers, and is committed to cultivating confident, expressive, and technically grounded artists.

Geoffrey has a passion for all vocal styles, and the different colors they bring to a singer's vocal palate. He primarily enjoys singing jazz and music from the Great American Song Book, but has extensive experience teaching and performing musical theatre, contemporary/pop, and opera.
