Matthew MacManus

Associate Instructor of Voice

Matthew Mac Manus is a performing arts professional based in Columbus, OH. He received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Miami University and his Master of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music. His academic career has enabled him to study and perform Musical Theater, Classical/Opera, and Jazz styles.

An active participant in Columbus’ performance community, he has appeared with Opera Columbus in roles such as Don Basilio/Don Curzio (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Le Remendado (Carmen). Additionally, he was a soloist in Converging Arts Columbus’ production of Considering Matthew Shepard, and has performed internationally with FIO Italia (Rinuccio, Gianni Schicchi) and the Lieder Studio of the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria.

Emphasizing vocal health, Matthew prioritizes sustainable singing while empowering his students to confidently share their talents. He is an advocate of individualized vocal pedagogy and is committed to fostering the unique vocal identities of singers. His students have appeared in local community theatre and school productions and have been accepted into various summer training programs.

Matthew is passionate about science-informed methods relating to the voice and communication in all its aspects. This fall, he will begin his Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology at The Ohio State University which will include working with clients at the Speech-Language-Hearing clinic part of the Department of Speech and Hearing Science.
